Basant Panchmi was today celebrated with full
vivacity and festivity at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, near
Chandigarh. The College was decorated with yellow rangoli and
kites. Staff and Students wore yellow cloth and Yellow rice a dish specific
to the occasion was also distributed among all present. The students showcased
the vibrant tradition of Punjab depicting the spirit of inner freedom, creative
pride and zest for life. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided
over the function. Students actively participated in various activities like
mehandi, rangoli, kite flying etc. After that, everybody enjoyed dancing on the
beats of music. It is to be mentioned that according
to the Hindu calendar, Basant Panchami festival falls on the fifth day
(Panchami) of the Hindu month of Magha. The festival is usually considered to
mark the onset of spring in India.
