PU TO INITIATE JOINT RESEARCH PROJECTS WITH UNIVERSITY OF COLOGNE

Mr. Kiran Malhotra, Managing Director of Alliance Corporate Ltd; President of Indo-German Business Forum and Ambassador of City of Cologne, Germany visited Panjab University to identify the areas of mutual cooperation on different levels between the University of Cologne and Panjab University, Chandigarh. University of Cologne is one of the largest Universities in Germany and categorized as German Excellence University. The University has Clusters of Excellence in Plant Sciences, Ageing Research, Matter and Light for Quantum Computing, Markets and Public Policy. Panjab University would have first round to initiate joint research in the area of Chemistry and Nanotechnology which would include faculty and student exchange. In the next phase the plan is to extend areas of cooperation to plant sciences, economics, management sciences and health sciences. PU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Raj Kumar, welcomed Mr. Malhotra and wished a fruitful collaboration between University of Cologne and Panjab University. He emphasized the necessity of such tie-ups in view of the current competitive and dynamic environment. He also shared that PU would immensely gain from this collaboration. Prof. Kumar suggested creating state of the art instrumentation facilities at PU with support of City of Cologne. During the interaction, Prof. Shankarji Jha,, Dean of University Instruction, Prof. Rupinder Tiwari, Coordinator, DST-Centre for Policy Research, Prof. S.K. Mehta, Director, CIL, Prof. K.N.Singh, Chairperson, Department of Chemistry along with Prof. Alok Srivastava, Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Prof. Upinder Sawhney, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Prof. Rajeev Patnaik, Prof. Harsh Nayar, Dr.Kashmir Singh, Dr. Monica Garg were present.
