The 25th Punjab
Open Ladies Amateur Golf Championship Championship will be played at the
picturesque Chandigarh Golf Club from 9th – 11th October.
This is a silver Jubilee celebration as this tournament was first started 25
years ago. As a matter of fact Gaitri MM Singh who is the current Lady Captain
of Chandigarh Golf Club played the first tournament in 1993 and will be playing
in this Championship as well.
There are a total of
nine categories in this Championship. Championship Bowl (Open Category 54 holes
Gross), Silver Salver (Handicap 0-18 54 holes Nett), Challenge Bowl (Handicap
19-25 54 holes Gross & Nett), Bronze Plate (Handicap 26-32 54 holes Gross
& Nett), Junior Shield (Below 18 years 36 holes Gross), Sub-Junior Trophy
(Below 12 years 36 holes Gross), Senior Challenge (above 55 years 36 holes
Gross & Net), Super Senior Challenge (Above 65 years 36 holes Gross &
Nett), Four Some Match Play (Alternate Shot for outstation participants only).
In addition to this there will be daily prizes for the closest-to-pin and
straightest drive. A total of 75 participants will play and there will be a CUT after
two days leaving the top 50 to compete on the final day. The youngest
participant in this Championship will be Yogyata Modi age 9 years and the
oldest Mrs. Dalbir Sahi at 82 years.
